Exhibition piece for Lost Words Forget Me Not at The Lettering Arts Centre. Inspiration came from a display at The Forest of Dean Heritage Centre, it housed a small fern fossil. This seemed like the perfect way to express the ferns longevity. I wanted my piece to look like it had just been split open and the fern was being discovered for the first time. The lettering is uncurling like the unfurling fronds of a fern.

Contact me“I was surprised and saddened to find out that so many words from the natural
world were being removed from The Oxford University Press children's
dictionary. Surely at a time like this when so many environmental issues are
being highlighted on a daily basis we should be increasing a child's
vocabulary and understanding of the natural world, not reducing it.
Therefore I was keen to take part in the exhibition, to carve these words in
stone so that they will never be forgotten.”
